FBS was founded in Boise in 1976 by two gentlemen, Dick Lierz and Bud Fisher. The personal philosophies and values of these men shape what we are and how we operate.

Simply put, anyone can buy and sell boards and nails. They are largely commodity products, manufactured by a few and commonly distributed. To set yourself apart in selling these commodities, you must help your customers be successful in using the products you sell. You must truly understand the needs of your customers and be willing to do what it takes to meet those needs.

Service at this level, to be habitual, must be automatic. It must be part of the fabric of your company. Service must be in your soul.

Our founders understood this. They sought to teach and train Franklin people to innovate, to experiment, and to reach for new ways to help customers succeed. In so doing, they began to set FBS apart from its peers. For over 27 years, we have been striving to get better, and in the face of inevitable company growth we seek to live up to the reputation we have earned over the years.
